09.10.2009. U tijeku je izrada stranica novog hrvatskog portala biološke sigurnosti na kojima ćete se moći kvalitetnije informirati o Protokolu biološke sigurnosti (Kartagenski protokol), o radu nacionalnog BCH mehanizma te o problematici genetski modificiranih organizama (GMOa) u Hrvatskoj.

2nd workshop ("Genetic engineering, GMO and Croatian legislation")

The Second Workshop entitled "Genetic engineering, GMO and Croatian legislation", was organised on 9 January 2004 in Zagreb in collaboration with the Institute of Education of the Republic of Croatia (IERC). It was a scientific-educational based gathering attended by primary and secondary school teachers of biology and related disciplines.

  • Prof. Vladimir Delić, Ph.D. (Faculty of Science, University of Zagreb), presented the themes "Scientific basis of the genetical engineering" and "Some examples of practical DNA recombination";
  • Srećko Jelenić, Ph.D. (Faculty of Science, University of Zagreb), presented "GM plants in cultured crops" and "Effects of GM plants on wild species";
  • The following topics were presented by Assist.Prof. Srećko Gajović, Ph.D.(Med), Faculty of Medicine, University of Zagreb: "Genetical engineering with experimental mammals" and "Use of genetical modifications in medicine of the future";
  • The last lecturer was M.Sc. Krunoslav Capak, from the Croatian National Institute of Public Health who presented the following two topics: "Potential influence of GMO-s on human health and environment" and "Legislative framework for GMO-s in Croatia".

More than 200 teachers attended this workshop and they expressed the need for more similar workshops.
