1st workshop ("Genetically Modified Plants in Agricultural Production and New Legislation")

The First Workshop, entitled "Genetically Modified Plants in Agricultural Production and New Legislation", was held at Stubičke Toplice on 16 December 2003. It encompassed technical lectures for the meeting of department heads and managers of the Croatian Institute for Agricultural Counselling Service (CIACS).

1. "Geneticaly modified crops in agronomy" (M.Sc. Ružica Ore, Institute for seeds and seedlings);
2. "Procedures for approval of GM crops strains in Croatia and EU" (Ph.D. Snježana Kereša, Faculty of Agronomy, University of Zagreb);
3. "Legislative framework of GMO in Croatia and EU" (M.Sc. Krunoslav Capak, Croatian National Institute of Public Health).

Thirty-three representatives from all the Croatian counties had attended. At regional conferences, the department heads have communicated the presented lectures to their agronomic counsellors in those counties, these in turn communicating them to the farmers in the areas covered by their counselling services.
